Welcome to The Butterfly Rooms
The Butterfly Rooms (Incorporating Woodlands) is a charity-run, Ofsted Good nursery and pre-school in Purfleet, caring for local children since 2000. We welcome babies and children from 3 months to 5 years, 52 weeks a year, from 8am to 6pm.
Through play, outdoor learning and caring key workers, we help every child build the confidence, friendships and skills they need for school. We offer 15 and 30 hours funded childcare for eligible families across Thurrock, Essex and East London.
Our Rooms
Each room is planned around the age and stage of the children in it, with its own team, newsletters and photo gallery.
3 months to 2 years
A calm, cosy baby room for safe exploration, sensory play, tummy time and those very first steps.
2 to 3 years
A busy, creative toddler room building language, friendships and independence ready for pre-school.
3 to 4 years
Our pre-school room, nurturing independence, creativity and early learning skills.
4 to 5 years
Getting rising fives school ready with early reading, numbers, science and teamwork.

We care for children from 3 months to 5 years across four rooms: Little Explorers (3 months to 2 years), Alice's Attic (2 to 3 years), Little Acorns (3 to 4 years) and Little Caterpillars (4 to 5 years).
We are open Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm, 52 weeks a year. We are closed on bank holidays.
Yes. We offer 15 hours for eligible 2 year olds, 15 hours universal funding for all 3 and 4 year olds, 30 hours for eligible working families, and funding for eligible working families with children from 9 months. Private places are also available.

We are on Tank Hill Road, Purfleet, RM19 1TA, a 10 minute walk from Purfleet station and close to the A13, M25 and Lakeside.
Yes. Our SENDCo works closely with families, key workers and outside professionals to plan the right support for every child.
We have a lovely nursery uniform available from Uniformwise. It is not compulsory, but many families find it practical for everyday play.
